SPAS-2000 Programmable Switch
Currently, telecom companies are advancing
at unprecedented pace. User groups that are rapidly developing, diversified
business and operational environments require telecom companies to offer
services that are of higher and better quality. Thus, these companies
are facing all-round competitions from home and abroad. How to initiate
new operation style, lower operational cost, develop new businesses
and open new revenue streams are crucial challenges that telecom companies
are confronting.
SPAS programmable
Switch can provide many kinds of access services, including
No.7, No.1, V5, PRA, ASL, and flexible conversion among them. It is
an access service platform that is open, advanced, flexible, efficient,
and easily extendable. It has two interfaces: E1 and T1. The system
exhibits strong technical superiorities in the above-mentioned aspects.
It is an advanced programmable switch platform with whole owned intellectual
property and high performance-to-price ratio in the local market.
Introduction to the
System Hardware Architecture
SPAS-2000 platform is composed of SPAS-2000 DTS and SPAS-2000 SAS.
SPAS-2000 DTS is a programmable Switch dealing with the access of signaling,
while SPAS-2000 SAS is the user access module, mainly dealing with the
access of user interface such as ASL user, DDN, and FXO/FXS.
1 Features
1)SPAS-2000 is a product
developed with industrial PC based on ISA and PCI bus. It adopts modular
design to ensure the extensibility and integration of the system. A
single module can realize 2KX2K non-blocking exchange.

2)Versatile
hardware interfaces. SPAS-DTS has SS7, DT, VOC, and MFU; SPAS-SAS provides
many kinds of user interface boards
3)Backup power system makes the system
highly reliable
4)One 10/100 Base-T Ethernet interface
on the MPU board provides communications with administrator, CTI, and
other SPAS modules.
5)Hierarchical control and clustering technology
adopted to increase the handling capacity and reliability of the system.
6)Standard rack structure, all functional
boards can be installed on racks.
2 Introduction of SPAS-2000
SAS (user access modules)
SAS provides the access of 4 E1 i.e. 120 channels. Signaling can be
transmitted via the E1 connection between the trunk and the DTU board
of SPAS-2000 DTS through the ABCD code/CAS. Following interfaces are
supported,
> Analog user board (ASL): one board
for eight user channels
> DDN board, support the transmission
rate of Nx64K
> FXO/FXS: eight channels on each board,
with support for polarity reversal detection.
> E/M user board: 8 channels on each
board
3 Introduction of the SPAS-2000 DTS(Digital Trunk
Access)
1) No.7 Signaling Board (SS7): one single
module of SPAS system can be installed with two SS7 boards, providing
connections for 4 signaling links. SS7 board has the following features:
> Realizing the data link layer function
of No.7 signaling (MTP L2), which is normally accomplished by the SS7
signaling handling chip and the CPU on the single board
> There are two signaling links on SS7
signaling board. Designing of the board is based on the ISA/PCI bus.
Via the mini switch net, any two 64kb/s time slots among the one time
group of PCM transmission system (2Mb/s) may be selected as the duplex
data channels of signaling transmission
> Four-way connection verification circuits
are also designed on SS7 board to meet the requirement of the TUP layer
of CCITT No.7
2) Trunk Board(DTU): 7 DTU boards can be
inserted into one SPAS module; DTU board has the following features:
> There are 8 E1 on DTU board. They
are highly integrated for maximal flexibility: each E1 can be configured
as PRA, R2MF, TUP, ISUP, ASL and V5X as required
> Eight HDLC are designed to match 8
E1 on DT board to provide flexible signaling configuration
> Interface board supports E1 and T1
3) Multi-functional Signal Tone Unit (MFU) : MFU
can be inserted into the general slot of DTU, or slot 14 or 15. When
inserted into the general slot, 256 channels can be handled, whereas
when inserted into slot 14 or 15, 192 channels can be handled. It has
the following functions:
> MFC forward reception/ MFC backward
reception
> DTMF reception: multiple kinds of
signal tones transmission(up to 60 types including MFC forward/backward
transmission), and special signal tones (fax tone, busy tone, etc.)
detection
> FSK reception & transmission
> Voice code U LAW/A LAW conversion:
each board can convert between U LAW and A LAW of 128 channels
> Flexible configuration, 4 DSP boards
with 64 channels each, can be configured independently
4) Voice Board:
> Provide 100M Ethernet interface
> Support 240-channel voice recording/playing
> Embedded Flash can store 30-minute
voice recording
> Include 8-channel fax
> With DTMF detection
> Support IP (H.323) protocol
Features of SPAS-2000
System
1 Modular architecture: The design of SPAS
programmable Switch is based on open standards and modular architecture;

2 Multi-signaling
access: The system supports the common signaling access in the
local market. The flexible routing configuration modes facilitates different
kinds of routings such as lowest cost routing and routing upon different
services requirements;

3 Versatile hardware
resources: SPAS-2000 platform provides versatile hardware interface
resources, including resources such as voice, fax, IP, conference, DTME/MFC
reception/transmission, standard E1/T1 interfaces, user interface (ASL,
DDN, FXO/FXS). With the combinations of these resources, the platform
can be used for many different services;
4 Open interfaces: Standard external TSPI
interface is provided. Users can do value-added development with the
utilization of standard TAPI. They are also able to connect with third
party IVR flow generator;
5 Large capacity: The configuration of
a single module can consist of 56 E1, 2K X 2K exchange network, which,
can be scaled to 240 E1, 8K X 8K exchange network by cascading. This
will adequately satisfy the needs of applications relevant to signaling
conversion, call center and unifying information;
6 Powerful network administration functions:
SPAS programmable Switch provides powerful network administration entirely
based on graphical user interface design, including:

after new data is configured, upload or download in the same condition
will not affect the running of other resources and no need to restart
the system .
> Track, monitor, and maintain: tracking
classified signaling, monitoring the channel status, and maintaining
the signaling links and channel status.
